Wait, do people have the hardware to even play the first one yet? I kid! Kinda. And yeah, I realize that it's more or less the same engine regardless.

The crazy part is: that's the 360 version. Or at least, that's the version Crytek has been showing to the press at every event up until now. I dunno what kind of fucking wizards they have at Crytek's tech department, but if putting out a game that looks that good on consoles finally breaks up the UE3 monolith then I'm all for it.

Alex C:
Wait, what?

I didn't read any background material when I clicked on that posted link, so I was actually thinking "It kills me how they always use primo hardware for these demos," as I watched. I was feeling all surly about it and everything. I mean, I know we have PCs that can handle that now but in the era of console ports I feel pretty justified about my skepticism.

[EDIT]

I just watched it again and I noticed a fair bit of pop in that I didn't catch on the first viewing, so it seems a lot more plausible to me now, even if it was nowhere as bad as the worst UE3 stuff I've seen. The fact that I had to look for it at all should be seen as a compliment. I know that Crytek has claimed that they've been optimizing like mad since Crysis, but I usually consider that sort of thing to at least be half marketing speak. I would love to come away from this impressed.

[EDIT AGAIN] I forgot about the whole Cryengine 3 deal. Oops.

Storm Rider:
I guess I don't know for sure, but I do know that according to every preview I've read, Crysis has been using the 360 version for all press demos so far.
