snubnose:
This is getting even more interesting than I originally anticipated.

Binary:

--- Quote from: Is it cold in here? on 13 Jul 2010, 01:27 ---Pennelope's language has certainly gotten coarser since associating with the QC gang.

--- End quote ---

Nah, she reads Chaucer. But saying "Even though you're a tremendous, dripping hate-queynte" would have baffled the hell out of everyone.

Akima:

That made me blink, and I'm Australian. And I can curse in two languages simultaneously. Penelope demonstrates the value of a literary education.

And seriously, what was Dora thinking, coming up with that bogus reasoning? I mean, she lives with Faye and crawls into her bed for warmth given half a chance! Maintaining a proper distance from her employees that is not.

I can't find them at the moment but I think she has in mind the staff-management meeting when she told them that they weren't going to get chocolate fountains or anything and the time when she ordered Faye to be nice to customers.  As she was always a boss first to the staff, she could do those things without feeling too bad.

{edit} Adding link(s).

But you do have a point about warmth.  It's good for her that Faye didn't take too much offense otherwise she could have been a victim of a sexual harrassment suit.

Nightson:
It's easier to become a friend to your employee then it is to become the employer of your friend.  I mean you can actually see Dora and Faye become friends over the course of the comic and it's easy to slip into, especially with the idea that her being the boss comes first.

But friends can certainly work for each other as long as they're both reasonable, intelligent, mature and communicative individuals.

Hence why hiring your friends is usually bad.
