Comic Discussion > QUESTIONABLE CONTENT

Is it cold in here?:
Caricatures come across immediately. Characters take time to develop.
Carl-E:
How true, and Sven did start as a caricature, a "ladies' man" for whom "everything came easy". Stereotypes are so easy to write. It wasn't until he screwed up with Faye that he started to develop as a character, and that's still in progress!
Angus, on the other hand, went from being the "argument guy" customer at CoD to being in close orbit with the others in a long circling process. We've learned a lot about him, but it wasn't all spelled out for us in easy terms. Beneath the sass and the foot-in-mouth responses there's a lot more there, but we've seen it all through interaction with other characters. You need to have read the comic pretty carefully to see him through the eyes of others, and like him or not, he evokes a lot more of an opinionated reaction than Sven ever did!
Including BunnyThor's dismissal of him.
And that's one of the reasons he's one of my favorites.

QCR = "Questionable Content ROCKS."

--- Quote from: bunnyThor on 06 Aug 2010, 15:19 ---So...Faye hooking up with Angus McBoring is supposedly a good thing?
Right now all we know about Angus is:
* Blah.
* Blah.
* Blah.
* Blah.
* His presence is cock-blocking Sven right out of the strip.
--- End quote ---
So basically, you're a Sven fangirl that dislikes the fact that Angus is in the way. Gotcha. :wink:
raoullefere:
Sven is still in the strip, if that's the problem (He's not the Sven of old, but that may be just just as well. I have this feeling that things were going to go badly for the Sven of old one day).
As an aside, I loath the term cock-block. It sounds far too little like a description of social jockeying and far too much like something incredibly painful I'd need to see a urologist for. Quickly.
