sean:
also the other new song is the same old boring post rock shit they've been doing lately. envy is a really terrible post rock band, and they are a shitty pop punk band too. they should just be an actual hardcore band again.

Vuk:
I still fail to see how that is a pop-punk song, but oh well. I haven't heard their early material, like I said, but I think they do post-rock better than a lot of post-rock bands.

I still don't know how emo and hardcore have nothing to do with punk.

I think I see your problem here. Hardcore is punk so it's always been the same as punk riffing, same goes for emo. Hence the confusion when you were saying that the song wasn't punk in the slightest and that it sounded like melodic hardcore since that doesn't make any sense. 88 Fingers Louie are a good band for showing how the boundary between melodic hardcore and melodic (or arguably even pop-) punk often doesn't mean much, they flit between the two often without a problem. Or then there's the early Saves The Day records, where the intent is pretty pop-punk but the way they go about it is by making hardcore as poppy as possible. I agree with you that the song's more melodic hardcore/emo than pop-punk, but there's just not that far to go between the two.
