Hey, you would probably be better off posting this in the current comic discussion thread.

Hard to say.  If she'd decked this guy (last panel), we'd know for sure...

Marten's "Pandora's box" comment in the third panel is the truest thing I've read in the strip in ages.

If he was trying to laugh it off, he might have added, "Fayedora's box".

Marten and Dora break up, their whole social circle goes downhill, then one morning after spending a great night with Angus, Faye enters home and finds Marten holding a .38 while looking through the window. BANG. Next month strips are about Faye being at the mental institution.

Dora never realizes about Marten's departure, since she hooks up with Tai and they travel to Argentina to get a same sex marriage.

They live in Massachusetts, they don't need to go to Argentina (but it would be a nice honeymoon.)

True, sorry for the confusion, I though that Massachusetts only approved civil unions. But yeah, why not a nice honeymoon ;)

I don't hope they break up, but I think they very well may. After reading some posts on this weeks thread and thinking about it myself, I think that truly is, either consciously or subconsciously, what Dora's trying to do, and I suspect she won't stop until she achieves it. Her version of 'normal' is simply too important to her, apparently. Much more so than her own happiness, at any rate.

Sad, that is.

This is not a prediction, since I don't see Marten doing it, but he *could* insist that she go into therapy to fix her pattern of trying to sabotage the relationship.

I say Martin might -actually- be serious enough and upset enough to either ask Dora to spend the night elsewhere, or he himself spend the night elsewhere (either way, one of them's going to end up at Sven's.)

And then Faye gently suggests that Dora start seeing a therapist, recommends her's, and Dora, Faye and Hanners have group session Fridays, which requires drinks afterwards (or before.)

Martin and Dora are not going to end the relationship but I could see this perhaps being the straw that ends up in a small -break-...it all depends on how Dora handles things next, really.

There is one thing that would be an ultimate setup for a MASSIVE "TEH FUNNY" moment:

They break up, she ends up moving out and living with Raven or something, then just as Marten thinks everything's settling down, Faye says something to the effect of, "geez, now that I'm actually able to have a functional relationship and you're not seeing someone - I'm actually dating a boy!"

And that's when Faye tells him she's moving in with Angus and Marigold.

I hope she would never do that. The whole comic has been about them living together, since number 22. They've been living together for nearly 1800 strips. They've lived together since before he got together with Dora, and I hope they will be living together long after he has broken up with Dora. I'd see Faye moving out as the end of QC.

What I think is that you have far more confidence in Faye than she does in herself. Then again, who doesn't?

What I can see is Angus, if he ever learns all the backstory, being a trifle uncomfortable with Marten and Faye living together. Nothing on the Dora scale, mind, just a trifle.

If things were to go wild, though, how about a roommate swap? What would Marten and Marigold be like?

...I fully believe that Marigold could totally get Marten into WOW. There is a gamer in him just waiting to come out, I know it.
And they would hook up their computers and raid together and start their own guild which results in wacky hijinks with Evil Dale and Marten would become the best gold farmer in gaming history.

...I think I would actually really enjoy reading that.

I kind of agree with this. Faye and Marten being best friends and living together is kind of a staple of the comic in my opinion. If one of them was to move out, it'd be a pretty big deal in the comic, I think, and certainly the end of an era. I personally have no wish to see it happen.

This would be the real death of QC, because the last thing it needs is to turn into a retarded MMO-referencing comic.

No overbearing MMO stuff though, please. Penny Arcade does that to death, and it's never funny.

Aw! I don't think the -death- per se, but I wouldn't want it to be used but sparingly. Like good spice.

I'm just drawn to that because I understand at least 45-50% of the gaming references in this and other comics but only understand 10-15% of the hipster/music references. I have not heard of -a single band- mentioned in this comic besides Ben Folds Five, Slipknot and ...um.
Did they mention Kiss once? I seem to remember that. If so, also them.

I mean obviously that's not the comic's fault, it's just Marigold scenes are a bit of a mental balm.

...although it really is stupid for me defending that since it's not happening even in the realm of hilarious possibilities, lol.
