My point is, in that sense, it isn't even remotely used in a derogatory way, but rather in a 'chummy' way. I don't see what the fuss is there.

As for the original thread topic, we were told at both my junior and senior Catholic high schools that if we did any pranks, the school formal would be cancelled and the perpetrators would be expelled. So we didn't do anything.
I think once when I was in Year 7, some of the Year 10 kids dressed a statue in heart boxer shorts. That was pretty funny.

How so? It's not like they got left there permanently (it would make it particularly difficult for them to play sports on it if they left them in).
