The King Is Dead

<< < (8/11) > >>

scarred:
I enjoy it quite a bit, especially "Rox in the Box."

amok:
Hadn't thought about it like that but you're spot on. Its standout tracks aren't quite up there with a select few previous songs, but it's consistently awesome.

Inlander:
Coming back to this because the more I listen to it the more I love it. I'm a sucker for this style of music anyway so that helps, but it's sounding more and more like a "time out" album to me, like they needed to take a breather after Hazards of Love, which they probably did. Plus, I'm becoming more and more convinced that "January Hymn" and "June Hymn" are two of the loveliest songs Colin Meloy's ever written.

squawk:
the first one that jumped out me and the one that continues to get me is "rox in the box", owing solely to the way he sings "and if you ever make it to ten, you won't make it again." i just really like lil' moments and that one particularly stirs me. what a bamf, that colin meloy

imagist42:
I could not get "Calamity Song" out of my head for three days straight

(when I did, it was replaced by "Rise to Me," which hung around for a day before vacating its position to "Down by the Water")
