Welcome to Australia.

David_Dovey:
Haha yeah, what else are we gonna talk about, our rich cultural history? Hahahahah

Inlander:
Okay Tania here's some interesting Australian sports-related sociology for you: Australia has an endemic football code called Australian football, however it is by no means embraced universally in the country. For some reason the east coast states (New South Wales, Queensland, and the Australian Capital Territory) all follow/play the two Rugby codes and have almost no interest in Australian football! In fact the people in those states pretty much all view Australian football as something very strange and "other" and routinely mock it and everyone who follows it! Whereas in the rest of Australia Australian football is pretty close to a religion!

Peculiar, huh?

Tom:
AFL is really picking up in NSW due to the activity of children's AFL clubs and reduced potential for injury. I grew up in an AFL household, my father is a Swan's supporter and his father was a Cats fan. Also, AFL requires more skill and athleticism than the assortment of Australian thugby codes.
