It basically never snows in Sydney, though a few years ago there was a freak light dusting in the western (inland) part of the city. Up in the southern mountains of course there is skiing in winter. Our main problem with frozen water falling from the sky is hailstorms in summer. Hailstones can be as big as this:
And hard enough to smash roof-tiles, punch fist-sized holes through the laminated windscreens of parked cars etc. You don't want to be caught out in the open.

North Texas had its greatest snow day ever last year right around Valentines Day. It snowed 12-13in in about 24hrs, DFW shut down. Massive power outages, grocery stores like madhouses, it was insane. I built a 7ft tall snowman with some friends... IN TEXAS. Still blows my mind.
