Usually, yeah. Unless they live on a surface that wears them down. I took mine to get them done at the vet in the first couples weeks I had them. That was three months ago and they're due another clipping. Actually they were probably due a couple weeks ago because a couple of the nails curl inward on each of them.

I've read a lot about people doing it themselves but I find it easier to have the vet do it.

Lines:
I don't think my school would appreciate me billing them for nail clippings, so I'll do it myself with the help of a coworker. I have those special scissor-like clippers for my cat and I'll just take them to work with me one day.

Although, a trip to the vet might not hurt. I kind of think she needs a haircut. Her fur is super unruly.

Welu:
This link has a bunch of helpful information for clipping piggie nails.

Edit: For some reason I use "piggie" for an individual guinea pigs even though the spelling "piggy" exists.

Masterpiece:
I would use Piggie as well.

Method of Madness:
I guess "piggy" sounds pejorative, almost. It's just weird to me to see "piggy/piggie" to refer to a guinea pig and not an actual pig.
