Bert, the 2-and-a-half-year-old Manx:

And Devon, the 2-year-old black kitty, along with Bert in is favorite pose:

I swear, trying to photograph black cats is a bit like trying to take a picture of a vampire - they just don't turn out.

Yeahhhh, it's really hard to get good ones. I have a few that I've taken of Fuzz that were successful, but I spent a good half hour taking shot after shot and came out with maybe 2 or 3. I'll post them soon, they're all on a different computer.

Very cute kitties :-)

Carl-E:
Majic, my sixteen year old black cat who's lost a lot of teeth and some jaw in the last couple of months, stopped eating about a week ago, and stopped even trying to drink a couple of days ago.  Lifting her, it seems she got down to 3 - 4 lbs (she used to be pushing 20).

Day before yesterday she stopped walking around, and just lay near the back door.  We got a cushion under her, and pet her whenever we went by.  Just waiting.

She disappeared this afternoon.  No one saw her get up and go anywhere (the dog did, but she's not talking).  We can't find her.

I've quit looking.  She wanted some peace, I guess.  She'll turn up soon.

Rest in peace, love.

Redball:
Reminds me of Cocoa, our Tonkinese, a Burmese-Siamese cross. She had two litters in her first 2-3 years and remained about 7-8 pounds. Our vet got her through a kidney failure when she was 13-14, and a couple of years later, she was unable to drink. I saw her outside, wanting to lap at water standing on pavers near our pool, but unable to. It was clear she didn't have very long. I called over to her, telling her it was OK to go, and that we'd meet again someday and talk over old times. Never saw her again, not even her carcass. But the part of me that hopes for an afterlife hopes for that meeting.

Carl-E:
Crap.  Now I have this going through my head.

We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know
We'll meet again
Some sunny day
