Ghanima Atreides:
Wow, young Veronica does look a lot like Dora! :-o
Carl-E:
--- Quote from: Fenriswolf on 28 Dec 2010, 21:56 ---I actually don't understand genuine horror at sharing baby photos. Everyone has some, I mean, unless you're excessively into seeming "cool" at all times I don't see the issue. And yeah, there are plenty of naked pictures of me as a kid, it was hard to keep my clothes on!
--- End quote ---
There's an interesting phenomenon that occurs with subsequent siblings - there are always hundreds, if not thousands, of pictures of first children. Not quite as many for second children, fewer still for third children, and so on. For my baby brother (the fourth child in the family) we were hard pressed to find any pics between the hospital and kindergarten, just a few snapshots and the inevitable posed group pictures of all four of us...
--- Quote from: Olymander on 28 Dec 2010, 23:43 ---You know, that picture isn't nearly as bad as it sounded like. And really, from the sounds of it, this isn't the first time she's shown off that picture, and I think his complaints sound sort of more pro forma than actual.
--- End quote ---
Well if there's not a picture that embarasses you, then the photographer wasn't doing his/her job. Fact is, there's a stage when you're growing up where anything involving your past is embarassing. It's called puberty.
Some people get past it, others hang on to small pieces for the rest of their lives. It's part of the establishment of your adulthood!
And if there isn't a picture that you're embarassed by, then the photographer wasn't doing his/her job!
--- Quote from: HFrankenstein on 29 Dec 2010, 05:10 ---Today we learned that QC exists in a universe where wiggle lines show up in photographs! #christmasmiracle
--- End quote ---
Easier to draw than the photograph's blurriness of a wiggling dong.

Except for the mouth, the hair length, and the fact that Dora's a natural blonde.
However, Marten does look a lot like his dad.
Oh, and there is one thing that bothers me, in retrospect: Those don't appear to be Polaroids, but they have the border around the photos. I don't remember any other type of camera that did that.
Carl-E:
It's not the camera, it's the processing. Back in the day, most snaps had a border when developed. It allowed you to hold them without leaving fingermarks on the actual picture part. Going "full screen" started back in the 70's or 80's (along with matte finishes, so fingerprints wouldn't show up as easily).
Of course, I had a darkroom of my own back then. OK, it was the guest bathroom, but I had all the equipment - enlarger, tanks, proofing frame, all of it. Developed my own film, did color prints, the whole nine yards. Talk about an expensive hobby! Packed it all away when I went to college. I miss the smell of stop bath...

The hair is irrelevant, and they're not identical of course, but the shape of the face, eyes and nose are quite similar. And I think there was a comic where someone (Veronica herself I believe) commented on the similarity between her younger self and Dora; I thought it was cool that it actually shows in this picture.
