First I got my rips on. Pretty much all House and Techno this time, 50/50 down the middle.

Perc - Antifunk / Purple

I like the b-side a lot more than the A. Hard as techno gets.

--- Quote from: Boomkat ---With his Perc Trax label dominating the techno schedule for the last 12 months Perc has become a key figure on dancefloors from Berlin to Tokyo. His latest for CLR has the heft to work it with any of the big guns. 'Antifunk' nods to the lean and mean Traversable Wormhole releases with a purposeful pneumatic chug and 'Purple' goes one deeper by way of tucked Latin syncopations and killer space drama synthlines. Check this!

Didz & Chico / C.R.S.T - Something New / Roulette

Choice UK house of the moment. This one took me by surprise, as the last C.R.S.T. split on Ten Thousand Yen (with Diverse Concepts) was kind of there and gone with me, but this particular split is more in line with the Julio Bashmore school of 90's-tipping House revivalism (Ten Thousand Yen released Bashmore's "Chazm / Footsteppin'", so I wasn't about to give up on them). "Something New" is a real pleasure.

--- Quote from: Boomkat ---**Hand-numbered edition of 350 copies** Classy contemporary Garage styles from the Ten Thousand Yen label, introducing new artists Didz & Chico, and a tightly tucked swinger from C.R.S.T. Cardiff's Didz & Chico make an impressive debut with 'Something New', full of carbonated 2-step beats and warm, vintage-sounding strings with a rich snippet of soul vocals. C.R.S.T's masterful 'Roulette' further proves why they're on the tip of everyones tongue right now, firing organ stabs and fractured rhythm programming to command hips and shoulders in silkily syncopated style.

Bad Autopsy - Bad Autopsy EP

From the stark presentation I was expecting minimalist dubstep type stuff, but it turns out this is more in the UK Funky vein. "Gin Mixer" is something like what you'd get if The Prodigy decided to try their hand at Grime, and "Call Back" is pure Roska rhythm. Pretty fresh.

--- Quote from: Boomkat ---Debut solo release business from Bad Autopsy, adding his quirky-but-rugged Funky style to Ramp. The keen-eared among you may have copped his swish R&B refit on the Ca$h Antic$ 2 12" last week, but don't worry if you didn't, because these tracks are better. 'Rot Pot' starts up with double vision-inducing, dissonant synth riffs and crisply clipped Funky drums, while 'Gin Mixer' locks hard into a bristling R&B/Funky fusion with ace, cut-up, late '80s synth samples. Call Back' on the flip has gotta be the one though, sounding like the evil weirdo cousin to Deadboy's sentimental Garage/Funky archetype. Top 12", well recommended!
