This is what ben uses, and seems to like it. He bought a cheapo espresso machine (which I told him would be awful, but did he listen to me? nooooo) and we have finally put it back in the box to free up the bench space. He uses a moka pot rather than a french press because he likes espresso rather than long black type coffee, and it takes hardly any time! No big deal! Also he gets beans from various shops and grinds them to order so he gets to try the different brands of coffee to find out which one he likes the best.
Those Nespresso-esque things shit me so much, though. We actually had a guy come into the cafe I worked at and ask if we sold the capsules. I think the barista (also the owner of the cafe) had to try very hard to not just laugh him out of the store. There is a ridiculous amount of waste with the packaging, it is being lorded as amazing coffee and are so expensive!

Like I don't think they're the greatest things going but uh I have a friend that has one and it makes perfect sense because she is a student that lives on her own and usually only drinks one cup of coffee before classes in the morning. They're smart for that. I think french presses are better but whatever. they're certainly not the downfall of fucking civilisation like sean suggests in the OP. Because that would be a dumb thing to say.
Anyway I was originally gonna come in here to say "hey at least it isn't Nespresso" but people got that covered. Good job, everyone.

like, seriously, i don't get it. it is really bitter, and only tastes remotely good with megatons of sugar and/or milk/chocolate.
i guess this is kind of odd, i like sprouts, and they're pretty bitter.

It's weird really, I guess it's just one of those tastes you have to get used to in order to like, but when you first start to get used to it it's amazing. I used to hate coffee, same with olives (just the thought of olives used to make me gag) and red wine, and now I love them all! And yeah, I like my coffee best with no milk and no sugar, mmm.
