There's a big difference between what we're going through and what AUS is going through.

We knew about this storm well in advance, and we just have to wait to dig it out.

Aussies are going to have to keep from floating away completely after they're soaked.

I think the main difference is that everything will be relatively okay once the snow's gone.
Once the cyclone's gone, everything will be GONE. The Premier is saying that people will die. Australia has not had a storm this bad in living memory. It's all pretty terrifying, even if it is in another part of the country. I pretty much want to cry looking at these images.
