I apologise. My nested-quote-parsing-fu deserted me, and I should have attributed the link to DJRubberducky:

Good to gey some ridiculosity back in the comic, but I would be happier if someone would crack a damn smile! Augh!
(Also, I bring the return of Marten's Evil Passively Evil twin brother: Mordecai Reed!)
iduguphergrave:
I knew he'd be back.
He didn't call before showing up! grrrrrr
hannahsaurusrex:
I'm a little late with this, but Hanners in a baseball cap and hoodie could only be cuter if she managed pigtails. As it stands, she's pretty adorable.

--- Quote from: Akima on 18 Jan 2011, 16:25 ---Disintegrating into dust is a recent trope. You just haven't watched enough old Hammer Horror movies on late-night TV. Or read Bram Stoker in full-weird psycho-sexual flood:

Bram Stokers vampires already disintegrated into dust as well, if the vampire was old enough. More specifically, the vampire would revert to its natural state. That would translate, for really old vampires, to turn into dust almost immediately.
Some modern movies make use of the "turn to dust" part simply because its cheaper and easier to handle than alternatives. Buffy Summers the vampire slayer stakes a vampire, and *poof* it turns to dust.
It has to be noted, though, that Bram Stokers vampires are very different from what we are used to. For example, they could walk in bright daylight just fine.
