"220 current"? Is that USAnian for three-phase electric power or something? Most of the world uses 200-240V mains power just to run its toasters, kettles etc.

He's referring to the voltage.  US and I think most North American countries run the 110V, and most of Europe rolls with the 220V.

"Standard" US two and three prong outlets run off 110v.

The heavy-duty stuff, the higher voltage items (like dryers and things) run off an entirely differently shaped plug, like this-
