Is it cold in here?:
Marten's drunk comments and actions could be taken as hostile. We don't know what he did, but Faye certainly wasn't playful about punching him.

Is that in response to me? I certainly agree with your point, but you have to admit, it didn't break the trend of his reactions to her. That's an important point. Until today's strip, he has never varied in his assessment of her as a potential girlfriend. Even when he was with Dora, he never said "Well, thank God I dodged that bullet."

If I've missed your point, please elaborate. :)

NB: I have edited my post, since it appears that I didn't quote the points I was responding to correctly. Please re-read my post above to see if that clarifies what I was trying to say.

I, however, am ready to punch your avatar.

In the face.

Frequently.

And yes, I live in "Nittany Lion Country"

We are NOT  Penn State, dammit!

On the other hand, I have nothing against you personally or your comments.   :-D  It's just that seeing that wizened visage that's been put on a pedestal for the last few generations makes my blood boil...

pwhodges:
When (as I said earlier) I made similarly crass remarks during the fallout from my breakup and divorce, I lost one friend for ever - who had been sympathetic and helpful up to that point - but others just let the remarks fly past with a pained expression.  However, this remark is certainly less awful than the one that lost me a friend; and I can't really see Jeph wanting to reconfigure the QC world too much more than is already happening - not all in one go!

TheBiscuit:
Is it strange that I don't even consider what Marten said to be a problem? It was a vulgar wisecrack, and that's all.

Any friend you could lose with that remark is a friend you never really had.
