Also to save 20% on most purchases at Macy's, this week only!  (I'm gonna tell people that it is for Chinese new years, and not for ladies heart attacks)

I have no idea where Wikipedia gets the association between Chinese zodiac animals and countries*, but it is rather cool that mine is associated with Australia, my adopted home.

*I know the USA is regarded as a Fire Monkey because it was "born" on 4th July 1776, but how it works for countries without a definite birth date, I do not know. Neither of the potential offical birthdays of Australia as a nation (Federation in 1901, foundation of the first British colony in 1788) falls in a Dog year, and of course nobody knows in what year the land was first settled by Aboriginal Australians.

Thomas Edison:
I went to a Chinese take-away today with my Malaysian room mate and he wished the cooks a happy new year in Mandarin and I got really jealous that I can't speak another language. I might learn Mandarin for him.

JD:
Good luck with that.
