Xkcd and SMBC have spoiled me, and I'm always a little disappointed when comics don't have a hover-reward.

Guiled Age has some of the best alt-texts going (well, right up there with xkcd)

XKCD alt-texts are ok, but (mebbe its my browser, mebbe its my speed of reading) it usually disappears be4 I reached the end of the line. I like it that I can take my time with Jeph's comments.

Oops, the surface in that bottle of Talisker is kinda low.

I don't really consider Jeph's comments the equivalent.  They're nice to have, and I'm not saying he needs to add anything, but they've always struck me as his reaction to the comic rather than part of the comic.

Now i find myself hovering the pointer over new comics, hoping (usually in vain) that they have redeeming alt-text...

Agree, Carl, but i think i'd rate Guilded Age's as the best of all. Theirs often manage to make me L O L, for realz.

I get that for xkcd, too, but I'm a mathematician/former physics geek, so it holds a special place in my heart.

'twas my first webcomic, as well!
