I think this is one of those cases in which Gawker takes something really marginal on the internet and makes it seem bigger than it is. Like, anybody with half a lick of sense would get that, while being paid $2 million dollars a week for doing practically nothing would be great, being an erratic and hopeless addict such as Charlie Sheen would lose its luster very, very quickly.
If anything is questionable it's the morbid fascination the public has with him now that they're just waiting for him to fall back down to the ground and relapse so they can stop laughing and start clucking their tongues many, many years after the point at which doing so would have made sense.
Craig Ferguson got sick of it and has vowed to stop telling jokes about it, like he did with the late night wars and Britney Spears (which is a great little speech) before. Good on him, I guess.

The main thing for me is that the guy is a convicted wife beater, with a long history of violence and threats to several women, which I didn't know because literally no-one is mentioning it in the clamor to turn him into the next Anal Prolapse. Also all the really icky Anti-Semitic stuff.
