It wasn't that bad people, maybe he was just a little confused as to Faye's real intentions. After all, look at what happened: He tries to re-engage the makeout session, she says shes too grossed out, but then two seconds later she gets coy and says she wants to do "other things." Knowing Faye, he probably wasn't sure what to expect next so he fell back on humor as a safety (maybe not a smart safety, but there you go).
