Steve Jobs, dead at age 56.

Apple memories, anyone?

Not sure if it wouldn't be more appropriate here, as not everyone can get into the DISCUSS subforum.

So story time, I have never once in 23 years owned a non-apple computer. My family's first computer was a Macintosh Classic which was loaded with dozens of Star Trek screensavers. Those things were awesome, one of them slowly filled up the screen with chirping/trembling tribbles. Since then gone from the original Bondi Blue iMac G3 (which was a piece of shit) to the aluminum Macbook Pro (which is awesome), and except for the first imac, they've always been great, long-lasting machines.

So, thanks for the cool stuff, you did some awesome work. RIP Steve

Point taken. I guess....merge mine with yours? Or keep both?

The only Apple product I use on a regular basis is the iPod.

And I love Steve Jobs for it.

RIP.

It was high school when I was first introduced to the Apple ][. The Mac SE was introduced to me in my senior year in college. The first computer I ever owned was a Performa 6360 - which was a post-Jobs Mac, but it was worth it. The first ever laptop that I owned? A tangerine iBook, which I upgraded years later to an iBook G4.

Unfortunately, the iBook G4 (which is running X.3) was my last Apple computer. However, it wasn't the last Apple product: I bought a 2nd Generation iPod, which I ended up replacing with a 16 GB iPod (the one I have now). My wife still has her iPod Nano (without the screen) that I gave her for Christmas a few years back.

A good deal of the documents, pictures and assorted crap I've accumulated over the years is still in Mac format. Everything from MacPaint to Catz to After Dark to Freeverse's Hearts Deluxe and Spades Deluxe.

I have a high school classmate who works for Apple. He was devastated by the news.
