I just remembered - back when I moved to Tennessee and I still went by just 'Ed', people had no idea how to pronounce it. It was hilarious, and I dealt with it more than you'd think likely.
"What's your name?"
"Ed."
"Adam?"
"What? No, Ed."
"Adam."
"No...Ayuhd."
"Oh Ed! Why didn't you say so?"
