I personally just know the term from a movie called Grandma's Boy. One of grandma's friends seduced the main character's friend and his nickname for her was 'Silver Fox' which instantly relates to cougardom for me.

So "Silver Fox" stands for woman who likes younger men ?

No, that would be a cougar. A silver fox is a middle aged man who likes younger women.

To paraphrase Roger Rabbit, I'm sure she doesn't normally miss subtleties - only when it's funny (ok it wasn't incredibly funny, but that's not the point).
