Having the hitler-stache on his bottom lip seems like foreshadowing, to me.

When you're old enough to shave, then you can judge and make bad jokes.
Most guys do tend to develop a soul patch if they don't shave for a couple of days, simply because it is one of the most visible areas on a man's face.
--- End quote ---
I've been shaving for eighteen years, thanks.
Most guys that go without shaving for a couple days definitely don't develop a soul patch, though (I don't, nobody I know does at work or in my family and we've all seen each other in pretty advanced levels of disarray over the years). That particular look requires daily maintenance (which explains the fuzziness you see surrounding it on Jim's face, he hasn't shaved in about a day so the rest of his face has that "shadowed" look).

--- Quote from: snubnose on 17 May 2011, 23:45 ---So "Silver Fox" stands for woman who likes younger men ?
--- End quote ---
No, that would be a cougar. A silver fox is a middle aged man who likes younger women.
--- End quote ---
Silver fox! That sounds a lot better than most of the alternatives I've heard. If I started chasing college girls after they have passed my courses, somehow I don't think that 'Silver fox' would be the term used to describe that?
Also, some posters seem to think that cougar is a derogatory term.
--- End quote ---
The only people that think of cougar as a derogatory term are women-that-aren't-cougars and dudes-that-never-attract-them. It gets a bit more complicated than that with older men going after younger women, though, due to the power dynamics usually at play in our society (and is a bit of a negative commentary on our society in general if a dude up to twenty years younger than a given woman can be seen as her equal while the reverse is viewed as impossible).

I'd agree with this. I can picture Padma and Faye waiting for Jim and Dora to get through their business discussion and just became bored. What better way to kill time than sparring?
Dr. ROFLPWN:
Exactly!
If I may be allowed a tangent, I think that shipping is generally a healthy, perfectly okay thing to do so long as one doesn't break some cardinal rules, like:
-don't show the creator your porn/ideally, don't make porn
-don't get into a war over how awesome your favorite pairing is
-don't disrespect the creator or his canonical relationships
-don't get really creepy/serious about it
Hooowwwever I also realize these rules are pretty much impossible to follow, and newcomers will break them (hell I broke all of them in my first weeks), so the shipping ban must stand for the good of the community :/ I wish it were otherwise, though

But Jim has (to reiterate) a well-defined "soul patch", stubble on the sides and chin, and a smooth top lip/neck - it's clearly by design rather than by neglect.
--- End quote ---
If I don't shave for three days, I end up with quite a lot of stubble and a very strong soul patch, for some people it just happens naturally. It takes nearly a week for me to get as much stubble on my upper lip.

1) I think Jeph is deliberately messing with us fans to 'suggest' a shipping and then pull the rug out. He has said he is mean to his characters, why not us too?
2) Padma has always been differently clued about relationships. Renee even commented it early on: http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1867
And further evidence: http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1865
3) Faye and Padma will constantly be testing each other. Those two are behaving like sisters (sibling rivalry) more than anything else.
