--- Quote from: themacnut on 04 Jun 2011, 02:25 ---Speaking of which, perhaps this is foreshadowing of an impending promotion? I never though I'd be saying this of Faye, but considering how much initiative she's taken recently on CoD's behalf, perhaps she's finally becoming the store manager material Dora's been looking for? Dora will take some convincing of that, of course-and she'll also have to let go a little and actually share her bean-roasting process-something I'm sure she's HIGHLY reluctant to do.

Faye's already practically an assistant manager. She's got a key, she can close and open the shop on her own, and....well based on what we've seen she's pretty much Dora's right-hand barista.

Only if it's directed at a certain "better than you" brother.

It seems most of you are predicting doom here now, so I feel a need to voice my disagreement.
I happen to have just finished re-reading the whole thing. Yes, starting at number one not too long ago and my browser history tells me I've read more than a thousand strips since yesterday morning (failed exams makes worn-out students pretty dumb, yeah). I don't know if this makes my thoughts on the subject more or less credible, though...
Yes, Dora is worn out in most ways possible and doesn't handle things very good right now. She is mad with Faye, more severe and in a slightly (note only slightly) different way then we've seen before. But we've seen her being this mad with Marten, and she didn't break up with him because of that - not at all. She broke up with him because she was mad with herself, something that at least Faye did notice at the time (but possibly not the readers).
Probably Dora is due for some kind of breakdown, but it's not gonna ruin her, nor her business or her relationship with Faye. Not more than temporary, anyway. Eventually she will be moving forward with her issues and work a lot better than before, you guys need to remember she just started going to therapy. Heck, for all we know, she could even be on some damn medication right now!
I'm quite sure she will be friends with Marten again before strip 2100. Correct me in half a year if I was wrong! :D

Hear, hear!
We've seen Dora snippy about work before - it's stressful to run your own business, and messing up only increases that. She's having a bad day. That's all. Sure, for us it's lasted about a week, but really, who wouldn't be a bit snappy? And she'll probably turn around and realize what she's doing next time we see her.
With luck, she'll even realize Faye's right, and that Raven could be distracting enough to the customers that they may not notice the store-bought. Just put "Crappy Roast) on the specials board...
jwhouk:
If Jeph was really thinking, Raven could be the calming influence to keep things from exploding. It's not like she hasn't taken charge before (the whole "taskmaster Raven" thing from 542).
akronnick:
She is a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in an awesome rack!
