--- Quote from: Skewbrow on 31 May 2011, 00:12 ---In my mind I always pronounce her name the same way as I would utter 'tie' (=an item of clothing for men, or a draw in a match). But I am aware of the fact that this may be a result of my default Finnish letter-to-phoneme mapping. So I'm prepared to be very wrong about this. Anyway, I justified it to myself as follows. Her name sounds oriental to me, so it is like 'Thai' with the 'th' replaced with 't'  :-D

--- End quote ---

In American English, "tie" and "Thai" are pronounced the same way.

And the "th" is not a reliable diphthong. You'll find that 'thin', 'this', and 'Thomas' start with three different phonemes (/θ/, /ð/, and /t/, respectively.)

(Though I think that 'Thai/Thailand', 'Thomas/Thompson', 'thyme', and 'Thames' are the only four that have the initial /t/ sound, instead of either /ð/ or /θ/.)

The real truth is is that Steve is the Human Cyborg version of Pintsize

--- Quote from: cat_rant on 30 May 2011, 22:08 ---[ I think it has been reported that Martin has no pallet for coffee. I seem to remeber one of the c.o.d. staff saying he would drink brown water. And again I want to kill Steve. At least Martin is clued in to what Tia is up to. Too soon Tia shouldnt be making a move yet ~ imo.

--- End quote ---

Ok this is like, the third or fourth post I've seen where you type Tia repeatedly. Its TAI. TAI. Its only written repeatedly in this thread. Also, Just lol Steve. That was, just the kind of thing I would say (though, in my case I wouldn't mean it... seriously all my friends would find that funny, even if it was them in Marten's place).

--- End quote ---

Hi Emperor Norton, so sorry about that. I usually check QC at like 6-7am (Irish time) via mobile web - it's not deliberate. Think it may be a combination of predictive text + small screen. Thanks for pointing it out.

As for the too soon comment I think Dora is still finding her feet. So Tai is pushing her agenda a bit too early. But again,  just my opinion.

--- Quote from: pendrake on 31 May 2011, 00:33 ---For comic #1937...

3. Wonder if Steve would feel the same way about his double-standard statement(s) of "taking one for the team" if it was the oppurtunity viewing of Cosette and Tai making out...?

--- End quote ---

Well, as much as I wouldn't act like Steve myself in this situation, I'm not completely convinced he's not just being himself with that crack, be it serious or not.

Just seems to be the kind of guy he is.
