The circles thing sounds a lot like what Facebook tried at first - I think their original plan was for people to put all their friends into different groups and interact with them there. It just never happened. If that's because the groups didn't work properly back then (not sure, I got in kinda late), the circles might work, but I think it's just not something people want that badly.

whilst this sounds cool and fb is pretty damn terrible, ill probably just stick with that until i think more people i know start getting into google+. which is probably inevitable.

It is like the best parts of twitter and stalkbook, so far without pretty much any of the bullshit of the latter. I like it. Facebook is now obsolete.
