Woohoo Linds! Congrats! :-D The wedding planning world is fun, exciting, scary and annoying all at the same time. :-P My best advice to you- avoid The Knot like the plague and check out Offbeat Bride. The awesomeness in that community is unmatched. Except maybe by the awesomeness here.

I've heard good things about Offbeat Bride and the only good thing I've heard about the Knot was a free planner book that a friend got. Besides, it's a traditional wedding-type place and I am not a very traditional girl.

What's the advantage of some kind of wedding planner group or consultant or book, as opposed to simply doing it yourself? I would imagine it'd help you make sure you didn't forget anything, but I think I'd feel under pressure to DO EVERYTHING GO GO GO.
