Photos can be pretty cool

--- Quote from: Elysiana on 20 Nov 2012, 08:37 ---Someone snapped a pic of me snapping pics at our SCA event this weekend. Please excuse my bad "garb" of khakis and Airwalks - it was cold and wet and I was more interested in staying warm and dry than in dressing properly.

Come on now get on that with a wool dress, get some period shoes (vikingleathercrafts.com) with wool socks (the socks are hidden they can be modern). Get yoself a nice lined wool cloak.
Actually if you are interested I have a friend who makes really really good garb for fairly cheap. I picked up a cloak for my lady for $60 (normally they're a bit more but she has budget fabric sometimes).
Her website is www.tailoredtunics.com
I guess you could let her know that Rafiq sent you there too.

Wow! Yes! Excellent pic!

Thanks guys :) This truly was the first DL pic I've gotten where I wasn't like "... the hell, guys? Why didn't you tell me I was making that face?" It's also, I think, one of the better photos of me in general... dunno what that says...
And Jace - I know, I know! Money's tight right now but I think I'm going to have to pick up at least one other piece because we have an A&S event in two weeks. But I mean - I'm in Alabama, it really doesn't get cold enough for us Meridians to own much cold-weather garb! It was especially embarrassing this weekend though because (as the tabard denotes) I was heralding so I was conspicuous all day long... plus I'm kind of a Greater Officer so I gotta get something nicer >_< I did change for court, at least. Aaaanyway - I bookmarked that site, she really does have good prices. Thanks!
Not as flattering a pic, but here's me doing my thing (sort of - I'm not a herald, I was just helping yell schedules):
Jace:
The thing I really like about Ilsa is that you can just be like "hey this is where I live and this is what I'm looking for" and she pretty much knows what fabric to use.
I wanted winter fighting pants, and she made me a pair of salwar out of a nice cream colored wool but she then emailed me letting me know that they might actually be too warm for fighting and did I want linen instead because she was concerned with me overheating, even in the Buffalo winters.

yeah. sorta. Keep in mind we drove into NY ahead of Hurricane Irene (last yr) and picked up a show as well as keeping the 2 we had scheduled. Everything is just a flesh wound. I'm barely holding it together. But yeah. :D
