Hey guys, you can learn about how your devices work!
In my iPhone, I can turn location services (not just GPS) on or off as a whole, and if on can allow or prohibit individual apps from accessing it. My iPhone is set so that I can use GPS when out, but my camera cannot get to it.
Android, sadly, only allows turning location on and off as a whole, but none the less you can do that. In v4.3 and v4.4 there is code to allow controlling access to location from individual apps, but (a) you have to get an app ("
App Ops Starter") to reach it, and (b) Google have blocked this app in non-rooted v4.4.2 "because the code is experimental". Google also stores your movement history if your device is logged in - you can delete that by going to
a website.
You can be secure - but Apple are better at letting you be than Google are.
