That was not true for the Dora + Marten relationship, though.

Oh, I meant you to realise that when I quoted it.
Akima:
A curious comic, with the laughs at the beginning, not the end. YELLING!
--- Quote from: akronnick on 11 Nov 2011, 03:38 ---Marten, for once in his life, actually read the signals right.

Padma is aiming the 100MW sexy-look at him in panel six*. If he didn't read that...
*And a very nicely drawn sexy-look too.

--- Quote from: akronnick on 11 Nov 2011, 03:26 ---This may be the first first kiss in QC history that both characters saw it coming and where ready for it.
Way to go Marten!!!!!!! :-D :-o

Pfft I dont think Padma saw that one coming. She hasnt expressed any interest in Marten before. I wonder if she's simply drunk.
--- End quote ---
Well, maybe Padma's been more subtle about it: Dora had been very obvious, and telegraphed her intentions to other characters, etc. It was harder for Jeph to display Padma's inner thoughts without giving her a monologue or, frankly, repeating the Dora/Marten storyline somewhat. Besides, Padma has (a) invited Marten hiking, (b) looked concerned when Eliot dragged him off, (c) was upfront about leaving for the West Coast, (d) told a relative stranger about the reason she was leaving for the West Coast, and (e) invited Marten out dancing. That adds up to fairly steady interest.

...Indian, not black. There is a difference.
WAYF:
Well, I'm going to go ahead and agree with stoutfiles insofar as this is not under any circumstances going to lead to something good. Everything after this moment will be full of people hastily trying to deal with the aftermath of this moment.
Personally, I think the best case scenario is that Marten pulls off a much less harsh version of Angus's rejection of Marigold, since although it might not seem like a very nice thing to do in the short term, it will probably be seen as the best decision in the long run.
The worst, and in my opinion more likely scenario, is Faye, Tai or Hannelore walking back in on them and reacting badly.
In any case, the moment itself was sweet, but the aftermath will probably bring all kinds of trouble.
I don't feel that now is the time to push the panic button (and I do have a panic button lying around somewhere), but there may come a time fairly soon...
Despite all of this talking about the kiss, I'm still voting for Hannelore's "YELLING" as the Moment of the Week. I suspect the poll will contest almost entirely between those two options.
idontunderstand:
"Good" is a relative term. I don't think Marten expects/hopes for this to turn into a relationship.
