Agreed. The whole sound feels fresh.

Hey you guys remember that P.S. Eliot band that I posted a while ago? Well the vocalist and her sister made a demo and it is fucking awesome.

Just reminded by KurtMcallister's avatar that the awesomeness of High Violet is not going to fade in the next few months and that there's a possibility a few people on the board might have missed The National's earlier, way more I'm-in-my-head-and-can't-get-out-even/especially-though-the-drinks-at-this-gallery-opening-I-snuck-into-are-free work. So here they are:
The National- Alligator:

What I love about Alligator is that I hated it the first twenty or so time I listened to it, but then as soon as the first prickly October night hit, I couldn't put it down... and even more so how I bought a physical copy for everyone I knew, and how they hated it the first twenty or so listens, but that they all got it right around Thanksgiving.
The National- Cherry Tree EP:

This EP is more for people who are slightly familiar with the band. "Can we show a little discipline" (and the musical parts that disagree w/ the request) is a line that completely sums up the dynamic of the band imho.

Jodey Kendrick - Plus Ten (Vinyl EP)
I received this in the mail not knowing that there was a digital album of the same name - downloading the entire thing was cheaper than just buying the "extra tracks" by themselves, so I downloaded the whole thing and was surprised to find that aside from their shared first track, the vinyl EP and the digital album are entirely different. I haven't been able to find a proper tracklisting from the Rephlex site or Discogs or retailers, either. So I've just marked them by their position on the tracklist.
--- Quote from: Boomkat ---Ace six-tracker of classically-informed Rephlexian electronics from Jodey Kendrick. The fiends will surely have picked up on his 'I.S.C' 12" last year, and most likely devoured his +10 back catalogue for Napalm Enema, so no need to go there now. Over the course of these six cuts Jodey undoubtedly sounds a lot like AFX's 'Analord' series, but there's a couple, like the pounding EBM cut that opens the B-side, and the DMX Krew-style electro that follows, which obviously don't sound like AFX. For the true-skool 'tronica heads this is 12" is an absolute peach. Big tip!

Jodey Kendrick - Plus Ten (Digital LP)
Aside from the first track, this is completely different from the EP, even though they're both very much similar in terms of Acid Techno sound.
--- Quote from: Norman Records, whoever that is ---Now this dude really is something. Rephlex laid virtually dormant for a while because they just don't follow the fashion train whatsoever. They gave the world the seminal Grime comps then they left it all the heck alone. I feel that's because they don't want to compromise the classic Rephlex sound. Now, Jodey K IS the Rephlex sound, his last EP was a cracking collection of hyper-catchy acid house & sharp electro-ish tunes & so is this 6 track beauty. He molds Chicago House, Detroit Techno & that distinct squiggly "braindance" groove into fresh, funky shapes without too much technical trickery or flash stuff drowning out any of the flow and vibrancy. He keeps it pure, infusing each track with lush synth lines and undeniably tasty rhythms. His stuff isn't remotely samey either - each track has a strong individuality and many work in multiple ways - they could straddle various disparate DJ sets much like AFX himself, or Drexciya. This is totally brilliant gear, my favourite label coming up trumps again with one of the finest contemporary producers out there!

Zhou - Zhou EP
Not a lot out there about this particular artist. I've been listening to a lot of the second track, "Prayer", and it reminds me of Subeena, were she to shake her house leanings and go full-on dubstep. Blue tinted music, pretty good.

The Artificial Arm - Re-Arm EP
Aggressively tuneful electro-acid in the Ceephax mold. If you like sleeker takes on chiptune this one's for you.
