MandoPop for when you want to feel up but aren't in a situation where you can sing along. Track 1 is just about the most perfect pop song ever even as the lyrics translate into total cheese- often played in coffee shops upstairs on 32nd St in Koreatown.

Read the damn rules, bitches.

QuoteRules:

The first rule of mediaf!re thread is you do not talk about mediaf!re thread.

The second rule of mediaf!re thread is no smoking.

No hot-linking images or albums. You can re-host images at http://imageshack.us.

Ensure your tags are correct and that you have specified both Artist/Album in your post.

Upload your files in either a .zip or a .rar archive to mediaf!re.com, in multiple parts if the album is over 100mbs. The reason for this is that we know mediaf!re is safe and efficient and allows multiple downloads. The ads on other sites, such as Sendspace, are known to contain viruses on the page. Get yourself checked out.

Post your link using code tags. It's the # icon above the policeman emoticon. This prevents the links from being traced back to the forums, lowering the chance that the wrong people notice the thread, potentially threatening Jeph with legal action.

Also, please do NOT request albums. This includes requests for re-uploads; if you miss it, try looking for it somewhere else.

Repost the rules at the top of each new page.

Hey bros, the folks in Echo Lake have contacted me and have asked me to pull down that EP link. If by any chance you have re-hosted said link before I pulled it, I'd ask you to do the same because they sound pretty dejected about it and I feel like an asshole!

That's what I get for actually leaking things instead of waiting for a release date.

Yeah the EP costs less than £2 to download, no excuse not to get it if you want it that badly.
Fairplay to the band though for coming to you directly (rather than to teh internetz police) and fairplay to you for taking it down!

I too have received the guilt trip emails from labels and in their defense I completely understand why they respond the way they do. The truth is I wouldn't have heard or got into half of the music posted here if it wasn't for the free links. The door swings both ways. Maybe from now on you post a "buy it" (link to label) and "try it" (mediaf!re) and if it's worth it people will do the right thing. These indie labels should stop having dreams of becoming wealthy from pressing obscure albums. Indie record labels are worthless to an up and coming band with the internet, social networks, ect. The only thing they are good for is loaning you money to get started (tour, merch, advertise).

You're not an asshole, just an over zealous fan. Just shrug it off and keep posting.
During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.

De_El

I seriously doubt the kind of labels you're referring to have any illusions that they might become rich off their product.  Wanting compensation for your effort is not the same as dreaming of the big bucks.  Also, God! Have you met people? What do you mean, "people will do the right thing"?

Tom

Man, fuck this guy. Medicatesleep is total tool, we've already learnt that by now.

KvP

I'll continue to post links to stuff, but I'll always take them down if I'm asked to. It's just a courtesy thing.

Hey everyone, my names Thom, I'm in Echo Lake and I just wanted to say to the person who uploaded our EP don't worry or feel like an asshole for leaking it. These things happen. It's just that I spent and long time writing, recording and mixing those songs and it just felt like a bit of an anticlimax to it being released. I seriously have no problem with people downloading our stuff, I do it all the time with bands I like. I'm just glad people wanna hear it.
It's on loads of different sites now anyway but all I will ask if that everyone on this blog waits a few more weeks until it's released on valentines day and then share it with as many people as you can!
Please don't think badly of our label either, No pain in pop are a fantastic label and by no means after big bucks, we're all just trying to release a good record for you all the have, hold and enjoy.
I'm glad I discovered this blog anyway, lot's of good stuff here!
Much love

I can't tell if you're being condescending toward what you assume is my own attitude toward buying music or my view on the human race. And as for the illusions of wealth, I was just trying to respond to medicatesleep's douchey comment in which he implied that by requesting the removal of a leak link they were indicating some misplaced unrealistic ambition. This seems to me a pretty senseless logical leap and it made him sound like a dick.  That said, sure they fuckin want to make some money, but a business needs money to run at all.  Not all impulse towards making a few bucks is derived from some fantasy of drowning in cash.  You make it sound like running a business to make any money at all means you assume you can get rich by it.

THANK YOU.

I'm not saying that all albums should be for free or that bands should not get paid. Just saying they expect people to pony up cash for some sub par "art". If a label implodes due to piracy and no one buying their records, it is just darwin's theory at work.

If you haven't noticed we are 244 pages into a thread of pure piracy intended to spread the word of fan fave acts who you'd probably never hear otherwise.

I'm sorry you think I'm an asshole Tom. Welcome to the internet.

If you take this too seriously, you may miss the point.

anyway, here is my favorite band from my time in dekalb (or, at least, my favorite EP).

Tony (the singer) could probably give a much more informed description of what this band actually is, but I guess I would just call them dancy garage punk with political leanings.  It has the typical, "we recorded this in our basement," feel that I love and I feel adds to the energy of the short work (the fact that it's a four song effort also adds to the appeal, in my opinion).  Don't Fear the Silence is my pick for the standout track, and I'll be honest and say Sea Sick, the last track, never really grips me.  Otherwise, however, this is a really fun listen.

That is a really awful way of phrasing it. :\ "Mixed-race" is generally one of those incredibly dodgy terms used primarily with disdain by racists.

Or s/he's just an ironic internet racist. Either one, really.
