The M/F Thread 2009: The Quickening
Nicky Thrice:
If you guys don't want everything, then how about Everything Everything?
Everything Everything - Suffragette Suffragette (It's just two songs but with lyrics like "who's gonna sit on your face when i'm gone, who's gonna sit on your face when i'm not there" how could you not check it out?)
Manchester Music Review:
--- Quote ---After having been covered on the live circuit with some excitement by MM’s Cath A, Everything Everything have been serving up a range of impressive, but equally baffling live performances. Their sound, as many will attest, is not one that can be easily defined. A mixture of rock, post rock, afrobeats, prog, deep harmonies and indie spikes, the lead track “Suffragette Sufrragette” is addictive. The rhythm conspires to throw you off beat, whilst a vocal skips into falsetto before the structure rumbles into a head shaking middle eight, which seems completely at odds with the stifled, dub assisted strums.
Everything Everything aren’t different for the sake of it and there’s no disjointed distillation of influences either. This single is an inspired charge at the established order. It defines it’s own genre, at the same time, spinning out an intelligent barrage of guitar arrangements, mixed tempos and sing-a-long angelic harmonies. If you want a clue as to what else they can do, the next song “Luddites & Lambs” is crammed with jangling prog / post rock guitar phrases and sweet, but off-kilter vocalisations. There are a lot of new bands on North West scene, never mind the UK as a whole, but if I had to back one act for 2009 - and one that has instantly woken me up to something completely new - it’s Everything Everything.

Danny, that is a pretty good idea. I approve of it.

Okay, this is getting a little out of hand haha.
First off, this forum has opened up my eyes to realize that there is seriously so much music out there that I never thought was.
After going through this forum once, I was like WOW I am not as musically enthusiastic as I thought!
Soooo thanks to everyone who has made this great forum "cluttered"
Nicky Thrice..you posted so much good stuff man! that ra ra riot demo?? i've never heard it, I'm not asking you to repost it cos that goes against the rules, but could you tell me the name so i can go and find it???? There was so much shit that i wanted to grab and i had to get off and then BAM it felt like it never was there lol i can't even remember what you posted or else i'd go find it elsewhere. damnittt!
You all have great points in your own ways. The whole genre-nizing thing though, like there are so many different genre's that have been opened up to me through this site. Why would you possibly keep it to certain ones?? That's what i call LAME lol
Good music is good music, I listen to like everything, there are certain things that I cannot get into, I try to only have the best music in my collection but that's what scrolling is for, you don't like something, don't get it.
And an easy way to solve the whole tooo much music at once thing...GET A MEDIAF!RE ACCOUNT. hit save it to your files! lol
You have no idea how much shit i have yet to listen to because it's just saved and waiting for me. but that's what's cool. this place gives you the option to find shit that you'll never find elsewhere, i'm sure you couuulld find it elsewhere but i've gone to record stores before with my mp3 player in hand, looking for an album, even though i don't own a car nor an actual cd player lol and have not found half the shit i've found on here.
Sooooo yeah let's just please post music?!

The Quiet Things That No one Ever Knows(acoustic)
Good To know that if I ever need attention all I have to do is die(acoustic)

MusicScribbles:
Claphands, no rules have been set down yet. Nicky Thrice can post all of those things.
Reread my post, or any of the others.
The point was to make it possible for everyone to actually have a chance at their music being shared.
Mr. Thrice can post his Ra Ra Riot. The major complaint was with über posts.
Also; I second hiding this thread.

This comes highly recommended. Stay tuned throughout, because it's a lot more rewarding than it might seem at first glance.

This one is my personal favorite from Chapel Hill foursome Archers of Loaf. Make sure to listen to Bachmann's writing.
