Since it came up i discussion in another thread, here is proof that some members of Fall Out Boy were once capable of making great music. Warning: this is scathing political metalcore with some parts that sound powerviolence influenced. Do not expect anything even remotely similar to the pop band some of these men now play in.

Here is some Music I Think Is Nice. The kind I like for Easygoing / ambient / background /hip hop music. Please try it! Even if it's not really Your Thing. I

Masta Ace - Disposable Arts (2002)

This is Ace's most acclaimed album, I really like his kind of chilled but pure form of hiphop. This album follows the story of Ace leaving the Projects to go to the fictional 'Institute for Disposable Arts' which teaches rapping, hiphop and dj-ing and such. But besides a few skits, all the songs are strong on their own and loosely linked to different themes in the album, so it's not hammering the 'plot' down your throat.

Mattafix - Signs of A Struggle (2005)

UK duo, sort of reggae sound to them, also a bit blusey / hiphop. One is of Carribean heritage, the other is Indian, but both brought up in London. Makes for an interesting combination I think. It is kind of slow, not for busy days! Yes, it's two guys singing, but one of them sounds like a girl.

Audiobook: More Napalm & Silly Putty - George Carlin

George Carlin, one of the greatest stand-up comedians in the world, passed away a short time ago - this is one of the audiobooks he recorded. I have two more audiobooks and a few show recordings, if people thinks this is interesting. If you haven't heard of this guy before, now is the time.

Part one
Code: [Select]
http://www.mediaf!re.com/?gjnncmosqmt
Part two
Code: [Select]
http://www.mediaf!re.com/?nz5iizddyjv
I totally don't mean to be a party pooper: Carlin is great, and I think some comedy CD's would be awesome in this thread. But I have to say this: If you haven't heard George Carlin before, don't start with this Audiobook version. Start with a Live CD. I'd recommend "You Are All Diseased".

Or even better, go to YouTube and type in "George Carlin", then if you like it buy some live DVD's.

On "More Napalm & Silly Putty", Carlin is out of his element, sitting in a studio and reading scripted dialogue into a microphone. It comes off as flat and boring, like a magician explaining his tricks in a lab room. And it's not like "More Napalm & Silly Putty" is some new material, written for the audiobook format. It's actually mostly a bunch of recycled stuff that was better suited to live presentation.

But thanks anyways... Anyways. You ought to upload some live stuff if you have it. Especially "You Are All Diseased". Carlin was one of the best.

the Necks - Athenaeum, Homebush, Quay and Raab

Quote from: AMG
The Necks celebrated their 15th birthday with the release of Athenaeum, Homebush, Quay and Raab, a quadruple live set. Each disc contains one piece ranging between 43 and 54 minutes, recorded at four different concerts in January and March 2001. In this group's case, "live" means that the instrumentation is kept to the basic piano, bass, drums trio. Each piece is unique, yet in pure Necks' fashion, it could be mistaken for one of its brothers. The recipe remains the same throughout . To make it short, the piece starts with a basic motif stated by any of the three musicians (Chris Abrahams, Lloyd Swanton, or Tony Buck), a motif which will be ornamented and modified very gradually throughout the piece, reaching a climax of intensity just before the end. The music draws on jazz invention (including the use of atonality), the hypnotic power of a steady groove and repetition, and an indescribable feeling of magic when the trio hits the climax; a feeling that has very much to do with the realization that tremendous musicianship and virtuosity hide under the apparent simplicity of the music. Of the four pieces, "Quay" is the most striking, mainly because it starts the softest and ends the loudest, with the shortest closing catharsis. Abrahams builds up a rapid-fire acoustic soundscape of piano notes that is simply superhuman. Newcomers who want a taste of the Necks live should start with the single CD Piano Bass Drums. Fans who already know that, despite appearances, no two Necks improvisations are alike, will definitely want to invest in this set. The magic works every time.

Stars - In our Bedroom after the war

Why couldn't I find this on the thread.

Quote from: Rolling Stones
The Canadian dream-pop ensemble Stars took everybody by surprise with 2004's Set Yourself on Fire, probably even themselves. It was sonically expansive, labored, on the psychedelic side, but what seemed like just another kaleidoscopic headphone record turned out to hold one powerhouse song after another. In Our Bedroom After the War is mellower, without so much of the emotional turmoil that seethed under the surface of Set Yourself on Fire. Amy Milian's mournful voice takes center stage in torch ballads like "Window Bird." Sometimes it's a dull slog, but then you get a gem like the ludicrously titled "Bitches in Tokyo." It's a melange of Milian's voice, piano, space bleeps, hippie drums, virtuosically phased shoegazer guitars in an urgent uptempo strum -- just about perfect. And when Milian sings, "Temporary battles can take up half your life," she makes you wonder whether that might be the half you end up remembering fondly.

Annuals - Be He Me

I was looking for something close to Tokyo Police Club. This is damn close.

Quote from: Pitchfork
Be He Me is a crowd, packed with hyperboloid songs that whorl and dimple, digressively executing competent-to-astonishing arrangements in a manner that would seem spazzy if they weren't so polished. "Antic orchestral pop" would be the easiest cop-out I could put forth to describe their métier. For further touchstones, think the high-blood-sugar anthems of Rollerskate Skinny or early Mercury Rev, but with classic-rock sheen, earthier lyrical concerns, and worldbeat dalliances. "Carry Around" invokes exactly-- exactly-- the futuristic tropicalia that Beck was supposed to be perfecting by now. The disco-waltz "Complete or Completing" submerges into a Steely Dan tide, then locks into a chant-groove that is triumphantly resumed on album closer "Sway", which dips the last few years of indie-rock's most-soiled dishes into a Ladysmith Black Mambazo rinse.

Code: [Select]

P.S, if you guys have anything esle by Stars (Not Set Yourself on Fire) or the Annuals, please post it, I love the stuff and my wallet's getting thin.

Dennis Wilson’s 1977 debut, Pacific Ocean Blue, was the first solo recording by any of the Beach Boys, and even though it came out during a commercial low point for the band, it sold respectably — at least as well as, if not better than, the albums the band released during the mid- to late ’70s. And okay, so that bar wasn’t set particularly high, but still — in a marketplace where anyone can buy M.I.U. Album or L.A. (Light Album) at the touch of a button, it’s always seemed unfair (not to mention ridiculous) that Pacific Ocean Blue has remained out of print for so long.

Sony/BMG’s Legacy imprint — already having a banner year, especially when you stop to consider just how much stuff the label has already reissued — rectifies the situation this week, releasing a deluxe, double-disc, lovingly curated expanded edition of the album that Beach Boys fanatics have been trading underground (or purchasing used at astronomical prices) for decades. If you’re interested in owning it, in other words, you probably already do — so is it worth buying again? The reissue was shepherded by original producer James William Guercio, the booklet includes a pair of beautifully written essays (with more content available on the CD), and — best of all — the second disc consists of recordings earmarked for Wilson’s never-released second album, Bambu.
The Bambu sessions are the obvious jewel in this crown. The recordings have been cleaned off and given a little bit of a shine, but they don’t reek of modern compression — they retain just enough of the warm, sloppy fuzz that Wilson favored to preserve their original flavor.

Okay, so what about the music? Dennis Wilson has undergone a bit of a critical transformation in the last decade or so; the same rose-colored rear view that had people trying to make masterpieces out of Beach Boys records like Holland also tried to refashion Wilson as some sort of undiscovered genius. That word would probably be guilty of excessively liberal application here, but that’s mostly because anyone who listens to Pacific Ocean Blue after hearing “genius” will almost certainly come away disappointed. It’s a solid album, certainly not as uneven as anything the Beach Boys recorded after Surf’s Up, and also quite beautiful in spots — but you can also hear why Wilson was less than satisfied when it was finished, and moved quickly on to Bambu, the album that he hoped would show people what he could really do."

I thought this review summed up the nuts and bolts of this reissue fairly well if not in a fairly pedestrian manner..My take-
.This has been one of those records I grew up reading about that always intrigued me but suffered from shitty production and bad bootlegs-My recommendation for this album is take for what it is-A former Manson pal's attempt at stepping out of the shadow of Brian Wilson and laying  down west coast stoner jams with ocean waves licking the dirty drug smudged windows of the studio while mountains of coke were snorted and a good time was had by all.  Its got its moments but I doubt it will be the Jesus of music for anyone-nothing new here but if you count yourself a fan of such 70's era dooooooods like Skip Spence, Nilsson, etc make your weenie tingle then  this will become a nice addition to the summer roster and hell even your parents my share a doobie with you if you throw this on after a Mai tai at the family picnic- a perfect messy California album just in time for the heat of the summer-enjoy

Weezer-Pinkerton (their "worst" album)

Is that a joke?

AMG said that the music community called it the worst album ever until a year after it came out.  Which is why i put the quotes.

I like it.

We've just seen two of the Greats of gangster rap, in the last two pages. Now it's time for the Third Installment.

In my opinion, The Best of gangster rap. Needs no intro, just download it!

Mobb Deep - The Infamous (1995)

Here is some more recent, but also very good rap, he's really one of the best around at the moment. My favourite Ace song of all time 'Soda and Soap' is on this album.

Masta Ace - A Long Hot Summer (2004)

7-inch split between two unique songwriting talents. DEVENDRA BANHART delivers a revivalist hymn version of XIU XIU’s “Support Out Troops! OH!,” backed by Xiu Xiu’s deconstructed/dance-blipped version of Banhart’s “The Body Breaks,” complete with signature freak-out vocals

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

Winnipeg is a frozen shithole
I would appriceate this a lot! The thread about it made me very curious.

Sure thing. It's a lot more gabber-orientated than most venetian snares, so probably not the ideal introduction to his work if you haven't already heard stuff by him (it's certainly not like any of his other work), but I will nevertheless upload it.

To keep you busy until the insanely slow upload finishes, have 'Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett'-
Code: [Select]

and 'Higgins Ultra Low Track Glue Funk Hits 1972-2006'-
Code: [Select]
which I feel sum up his music the most (As well as being totally awesome).

Thanks for the classical music! Greatly appreciated.

Some hip hops for the fatty. I've uploaded some / all of these a number of times, but they are still worth it.

This 'un I actually got from this thread not too long ago. The link might still be functioning, but I figured I'd extend the life of it a bit longer just in case.
