Tova:
My memory may be hazy, but I'm pretty sure gen-xers did not enjoy Mallrats "en masse." I doubt it's ever had anything but a relatively small cult following.

Oh, I can't comment on the film itself. I haven't seen it. But I'm happy to take your word for it. It's not a film that's ever been on my must-watch list.

Source: I am gen-x supposedly

hedgie:
I saw Mallrats when it came out on DVD.  It sucked even then.  Kevin Smith is very much a hit or miss director.  Chasing Amy and Dogma were both good, although the former hasn't aged very well.

oddtail:
Dogma, as the kids today say, slaps.

Chasing Amy I'm much more ambivalent about, although I don't remember it very well at all.

Thrillho:
I used to strongly dislike Dogma. Maybe I should give it another chance.

Chasing Amy is okay. Primarily let down by toxic Masculinity and the lead actress's grating speaking voice.

Theta9:
I love Chasing Amy. Whatever its other problems, to me it's about accepting that your romantic partner has a history that precedes their being with you (a lesson that Holden fails to learn until it's too late.)
