I just watched [movie x here]
Lupercal:
Oops. Kind of ripped that off in my amazing low budget student film intro, the forever unfinished 2008 masterpiece Thrasher Woods.
Premise? Group of whacky 17 year olds get sent a tape chronicling the misadventures of another group of students who "mysteriously disappeared" a few years ago. So, naturally, the kids go the same place, with cameras, and shit goes down. By that I mean Blair Witch shit, which means I stepped on a leaf and shit myself kind of horror.
Anyway, because my Facebook feed was abuzz with people talking about the Avengers, I watched The Incredible Hulk last night in preparation for seeing it. I still need to see Thor and Captain America. Housemate's verdict was that it was so much better than the trailers make out (which is kind of like Hey I'm Iron Man and here are some other costumed people)
Just watched Chasing Amy (Jason Lee in anything other than Earl is still a novelty for me, as was Ben Affleck with facial hair) and didn't think too much of it. Lack of closure at the end of what is essentially a sort of rom-com didn't do it for me.
LTK:
I still haven't seen Thor either, although I can't remember whether or not I saw the Hulk. I wouldn't bother with Captain America though. The premise pretty much tells you everything there is to know about it.
Cie:
Watched Mean Streets on the beeb the other night. 1973 film about italian-american mobsters in New York with Robert de Niro in it, and really, really cleverly filmed. I could see a film student gawking about this one. You got a real sense of how NY was at that time, and little Italy, with all its grime and glamour. The first half was funny-at-times and a bit boring at times, although the second half, particularly the last twenty minutes is really compelling viewing. Glued to my seat, my heart rate picking up in the last scene, audibly gasping - the whole drill. The ending really impacted hard. I need to give it a rewatch when I'm not half-asleep - some great acting there.

Cabin In The Woods. It was awesome. I already knew the premise because a friend of mine is a movie-ruining jerkface.. but that was okay. I loved how they played it out.
I think the bit with the elevators dinging near the end was my favorite, actually. And anyone who didn't see it is now completely confused.
TheFuriousWombat:
Time Bandits! Man do I love Time Bandits. It's such a ridiculous, wonderful movie. AND I think I noticed something this time around that I'm wondering if any cult sci-fi movie fans can help me with: is the dog that Benson gets turned into fairly late in the movie the same dog that plays Blood in "A Boy and His Dog"?? The timeline makes sense and they look a LOT alike.
