FBI Special Agent: Francis York Morgan. Please, just call me York. It's what everyone calls me

Did that not pop into anyone else's head?

pendrake:
For comic #2138...

1. I really liked how Marten is channelling Dora for this moment.  Jeph could have subtituted Dora for Marten panel for panel in this strip without having to change any lines.  But this moment really suits Marten.

2. I also enjoyed how everyman Marten was able to cow probable I.Q. 130+ space scientist Francis York, gave me a good chuckle at panel #4.  Also enjoyed Marten being called "Mr. Reed" with nervous respect.

3. Hopefully this mini-story of Francis York and Marigold Louise Farmer will be a happy (if not "fun") one.

4. I agree with pwhodges, with these closer-up shots of Marten, it is clear now that he has lost the bags under his eyes.  Good for him (hopefully).

5. Oh good, Hanners still has her lipstick on.  I was afraid she might have nervously sucked it in and swallowed  .

6. I hope there will be dancing at this party.  Jeph has said he enjoys drawing dancing strips.  Maybe even zero-G dancing.

7. With drunken prinicipled girls, nicely dressed not-cyborg girls, curvy wallflower girls, and whatever else may yet come with this story-arc, I may be moderately disappointed if with there are no zero-G make-outs resultant from all this :-\ .

8. As for what Pokemon has to do with space-time tensor fields?  There probably is a pocket monster out there that warps Euclidian space in order to attack from multiple vectors in order to strike at critical stress points.

Or laser boomerangs.
It could shoot laser boomerangs.

--- Quote from: iduguphergrave on 07 Mar 2012, 07:07 ---I had a feeling that at least one of them would get hit on while up there. I mean, some of these people have probably been up there for months. Probably the most isolated you could get. Lotta lonely nights...

yup gonna stop now

It's bad enough working all the time in a lab here on Earth and having no life outside of that. I can't imagine what it would be like to do that on a space station.

Schmorgluck:
Based on Marten's expression in the last panel (and Jeph has gone pretty good at expressions), he may have done it for both the sweet and the funny.

I have an idea about what could follow that covers both, actually:
They try to discuss their respective areas of expertises with much incomprehension growing up to hilarous degrees of awkwardness.
Then, after being embarrassed and speechless for a little while, they just end up making out.

Earin:
"So, um, Miss Farmer, I... I heard you like, um, Mudkips?"
