No. My entire name is only three syllables, and professors used to stuff it up all the time. And professors deserve to suffer! Sorry Carl...

Something along those lines that always really annoyed me:
When you ask me to tell you how to pronounce my name, at least try to repeat it the way I say it! The courtesy that you show by taking the time to ask me is completely irrelevant if you're just going to ignore what I say.
I mean, really? My last name is spelled exactly the way it sounds.

I think some people are actually simply incapable of imitating the sounds they hear, as opposed to making the sounds they are used to.

perhaps...although it's always struck me that people think my name should be harder to pronounce than it really is because they're not used to seeing it.
Dalsgard....not Duhlsgard, Duhlsgurd, Dalsgurd, Delsgard, Dalesgard......Dals. Gard.
Although, I guess it's pretty easy for us to pronounce our own names, considering we've all been doing so our whole lives.
