Need some motivation? How about this:

(click to show/hide)

Ashima Shiraishi is one of the best rock climbers in the world. Over the weekend she won the women's open division in a pro climbing competition at my local climbing gym. What she's doing in the photos above would be completely impossible to me, but she makes it look easy.

The kicker? She is thirteen years old.

What does that metaphor mean exactly? That the bugs are people who are buzzing around like idiots and run into people that are just annoyed and trying to get somewhere, or that the cars are people who are tremendous destructive forces barreling through life at top speed without regard for what bugs are on the way?

My avatar on my other forum is a giraffe licking a squirrel, and my status is always "Some days you're the giraffe. Some days you're the squirrel". I have not decided which is the one you want to be.

I would NOT want to be the squirrel. When I was a kid, I went to the zoo and mom bought me an ice cream. We went over to the giraffes, and one of them bent over the fence and started eating it. It was such a huge animal and even though I backed off, the neck was long enough for it to follow me for a good while. And wow that tongue was weeeird!

Their tongue is antiseptic because of what plants they eat. When they lick your face, your face is actually cleaner afterwards.

When I was living with Eed I went to the zoo and a giraffe licked me and it was the highlight of my day, if not my entire life.

This reminds me of a very dark take on the whole Magical Girl genre, which I don't want to link because of some of its very disturbing themes.

However, should you want to find it, search for "Sailor Nothing" by Stefan Gagne.

One of the undergrads in our lab is absolutely terrified of me for some reason. I mean sure, I yell obscenities at lab equipment, but that's because the lab equipment is getting in the way of me getting data. Don't get in the way of the data collection and you won't have a problem.

Hypocrisy. You kinda have to set the boundaries yourself. A proportion of gay guys seem to think they have a similar 'pass' to just feel women up just because they're not actually wanting to fuck said women.

Well a lot of women do feel my butt up. Come to think of it, a lot of guys do too.

Last week, when I was on the Mayfiest and wearing my Lederhosen, most girls that passed me just went "WooHoo!", and hit me in the butt. The general consensus was that, I looked like a black stripper.

I felt a little uncomfortable.

And that's just as inappropriate as you treating a girl that way and making her uncomfortable. But obviously many people don't see it that way.

I've definitely been felt up by gay guys who told me that it was okay, since they thought girls were "icky". One grabbed my boobs, in public, in a large crowd, and a lot of people saw it happen. Of course I can't read minds, but no one seemed the least bit offended by it. Weird.

I know it's hard, but people need to be able to just be like 'that is not okay' about these things, immediately.

When I was a drunken coke fiend (I mean I still kinda am just less often) I would pull this shit all the time and no one ever stopped me, but the second someone actually did take issue with it, it was like being punched in the chest. You suddenly realise holy shit, this is basically a sexual assault. I literally didn't even consider that in the moments it was happening, I was just a handsy drunk, but the second I got confronted about it - well, I've not done it since, except to people who are open to it in the first place.

It absolutely isn't okay in either situation. It's disrespecting your personal space and violating consent.

Yeah, those awful people.. Ugh. Same goes for cis people who feel entitled to check if we're 'real'.
