So I just realized I love all of you and it's unfair both to you as to me if I leave this forum just because I despise one poster here.

So I guess you're stuck with me for the time being

4. Only going to church to find a relationship
Who the fuck does that?

I spent several weeks trying to explain to my therapist why I had a serious issue with her suggestion that I attend the city's gay church. I already have a church, I enjoy the services and feel part of the community, and there is no homophobia or intolerance. Literally the only reason to go to a gay church instead would be so that I could date the congregation.

Just off to the gay supermarket to buy my groceries. I mean, I know the other supermarket sells everything I need, but I just prefer buying things from gay people.

I bank with the gay bank. Their interest rates aren't very good but at least I know I have a better chance of banging the girl who cashes my cheques.

My clothes all come from the gay shop, I like to know that other gay people have used the changing room before me.

I laughed for like three minutes straight at this. Punintended?

Just off to the gay supermarket to buy my groceries. I mean, I know the other supermarket sells everything I need, but I just prefer buying things from gay people.

My clothes all come from the gay shop, I like to know that other gay people have used the changing room before me.

I always hate it when people refer to marriage equality as gay marriage. I usually reply with "Tell me, did you also gay reverse-parallel-park your gay car on the side of the road? Before having gay lunch at a gay cafe?" Ugggggh.

Also, every time someone says it, all I can think of is this:

You could just date one of them. The entire congregation at once seems a bit overkill.

Because it's disrespectful towards god. or other people there. Or a preacher. Or not why people go to church, you know, to foster their close personal relationship with their spiritual world.

I'm an atheist and even I see the issue here.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing. If you're a Christian and wanna date someone, why not meet people at church? My point is who does that as their only mode of dating?

Well, considering some atheists are more well-read on the bible than most christians, they could easily infiltrate the church and get themselves some holy hanky panky.

I mean, you'd have to be a real scumbag to actually do it, but it's possible.

Meh, there are all kinds. I bet there are some that do.
I also bet there are atheists going to satanic meetings, or Satanists going to church, or x's going to congregations of y's for the same reason.

Who said anything about atheists? I was thinking of people who identify as Christian but don't otherwise care enough to go to church. I guess that wasn't really clear though, my bad.

Also, I thought the website was putting that out as a scenario as something not to do.

My interpretation was that #4 was directed towards Christians who wouldn't go to church if the object of their interest weren't there any more, or who are aware that their primary motivation is to look for a husband/wife. I think it's a fairly normal human impulse actually; prayer and worship is nice, especially if the hymns are good, but it's the people who make up the church and that's what makes it worth the faff of getting up on a Sunday morning and dragging yourself in a reasonably presentable state down to a building which isn't really any better equipped for quiet prayer than your own living room.

So I'm currently filling in for one of the Assistant Stage Managers for Love's Labour's lost. And this may be my favorite quote.

HOLOFERNES: Via, goodman Dull! Thou hast spoken no word all this while.
DULL: Nor understood none neither, sir.

And the actress playing Dull has been instructed to mostly stand around and look confused while the other characters have long, pithy monologues. I imagine Dull echoes what the majority of the play's audience will be feeling.

So, "goodman" was appropriate to say to a woman?
