BEERS is such a great tasting beer that it doesn't even need a name. It is the quintessential beer. THE beer, as it were.

Or "De Beers?"

Except in Chicago, where it's "DA beerss!"

Marigold's glasses are a portal to the moe dimension, where even the most basic fabric of reality is animu. Therefore, her shirt must reference something animu continuously.

It's the romanji phonetics for Sephiroth. If written in the actual characters it would read セフィロス.

...My dear Omega Entity, I knew that, and I am well-versed enough in moonspeak* to know the characters for Sephiroth's name. :P

I probably should have deadpanned something about how it indicates she's a big fan of Final Fantasy 7, but opted to reference theoretical realms of horror Lovecraft could not dream of.

You're not going to look me in the eye and tell me there's not both moe and bishonen in Code frakkin' Geass.

I gotta go with Near Lurker here. The ratio is slanted towards the pretty boys, as tis all things CLAMP, but there is certainly moe there as well.

Nice catch on the kindle/Death Note/Debu Note though.

(* : I use the term "moonspeak" for Japanese solely as an enthusiast for said culture and a failed student of its language. No disrespect is intended, and a sincere, contrite apology to anyone who is so offended.)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that defaulted to thinking the book became a Death Note. Bishi Angus even kinda looks like Light.

As for Geass, it's absolutely slanted towards the bishonen but there were some extremely moe moments. *sighs* Now I need to go back and watch that show again. I wonder if Bandai finally got off their ass and released a box set of either season.

Jeph's, in fact.  I read it as: "BUTTS LOL: THE JEPH JACQUES STORY"

[EDIT]
On a closer look, that's not it:

Perhaps "JAMES ROLLINS", or "JOANNE ROWLING"?

Jeffrey Rowland of Overcompensating and Wigu fame is the most likely biographical subject.

That works for me.

I would assume glasses like that would be highly unpractical for Marigold, since she cannot read any Mangas with such glasses.

They would manga-fy the Mangas ... the results would probably be horrible ...

Garrus would take Sephiroth to the cleaners, and he's more handsome. Marigold was right to be upset.
I just noticed the background changes and lack of shading in Faye's hair in panel 3, subtle.

Okay, I get it. It was obscured by the (nosebleed-inducing) folds of the shirt.

And the animu faces made me LOL, I admit. There's something so deadpan about sparkly pretty-boy bishonen Angus.

-5 / + 6 here, people who try on my glasses tend to cry out in pain and shock. =(

I've always attributed my terrible right eye to being hit in the eye with a hammer as a child. We thought it was fun to throw the hammer in the air. It was. Up to a point*.

*That being the point where I got hit in the eye and had to be taken to hospital to have my eyelid pulled out from above my eyeball.

I didn't even wear glasses (except for the movies and sometimes for tv) until I had some eye probs in my early 20s. I ordered contacts a few years ago. They messed up and sent me -20s. I couldn't see anything past an inch from my eye, however... my nose was in perfect focus.

  • The distilled essence of Mr. James Beam himself.

Probably.  It arises in ACOA from the parents not being stable, not being able to keep a job, etc.  The child in an uncontrolled environment starts controlling what they can, and not feeling comfortable unless they're in complete control.  In the case of potheads, they'd be forgetting many of the important events, incidents and promises important to a child or teen, an that could lead to control issues.  Not necesarily as serious a situation, but influential nonetheless.

Indeed. To me it reads like Faye is describing what she's (fictionally) seeing, and that's what Marigold's referring to in the last panel. Much like Jeph did in the strip with Dora, Faye, and Pintsize during the space arc (with Faye also painting a colorful picture for the story they'll tell Marten when he gets back).
