Art's amazing evolution, and then...

Carl-E:
Regarding the OP, most of Jeph's mouths are pretty large, look at Marten and Steve's mouths here.  At least, when they're open.  When closed, they sort of disappear.

Now take women who may have fuller lips and put those lips around mouths of that size.  That's what you're seeing on Faye and Dora.  Lipstick can accentuate the effect (like with Hannelore in SPAAACE!).

Notice Marigold's less-full lips here.  The mouth's no smaller than Faye's, but without the lips, it's quite a difference in appearance.

Agreed, Carl-E. But it's seemed to become more exaggerated lately. To the point that the side shots of Faye in this strip make her look like a frog with an overbite, and the front shots like she borrowed Kermit the Frog's mouth.

Similarly muppety is the similarity between the boys in this strip and Guy Smiley everybody's favorite gameshow host yaayyyyy!):

Anyway, yeah, the last strip was the best I'd seen in ages, but the art has started to bug me, so meh.

Mister D Nomms:
Their mouths can wrap around their entire head, as long as the art doesn't go back to the original style.

I used to work with a guy named Art. I'm not sure he ever evolved.
