--- End quote ---

It's not a mistake. It's an Americanized spelling and pronunciation of a foreign word. Everyone understands what is meant when someone orders an expresso, some people just choose to be jerks about it.

Method of Madness:
Wasn't calling you out, Bachi, it just bugs me. And Boomslang, I wouldn't consider it "an Americanized spelling", that's like "color" instead of "colour". "Expresso" actually changes the pronunciation of the word, as well as making it, well...not a real word.

She appears to be a bit frightened, which is not unusually depending on how old she is supposed to be (do we know her age? I can't remember). I've known women who said that, as young girls, they were terrified about developing breasts as large as the other women in their family. Some, as adults, are glad they did. At least one is sad that she didn't.

(And, wow, I just realized that I have spent a lot of time in the friend zone; lots of talk about boobs but not a lot of actually seeing them.)

Redball:
I consider "espresso" correct. But Wikipedia points out that both are loan words, espresso from the French, expresso from Spanish, and have the sense of "press out." Express is a verb sometimes used to refer to what happens when grapes or other fruit are pressed in the first step to making wine. The usage I recall is that the juice is "expressed."

--- End quote ---
I'm pretty sure she's of the age where he puts her to bed by saying, "go to bed." It's her problem if sleep won't come.
