I don't understand how anyone ever learns English. Are other languages so infinitely misparseable?

As a Midwest Amurrican, I'm often tempted to respond to those around me who make fun of a non U.S.-ian's attempt at English by asking my fellow Amurrican how he or she'd do in the speaker's native tongue. Standard response 7-E: Go live there if I like it so much.
But I think we're all, myself included, missing the important question: Does the alcohol in an Old Fashioned dissolve the Sharpie ink? And what does that do to the flavor? Not to mention the drinker?

Judging by the Wikipedia page... depends on how much ink is used, I would probably say. Methylated spirits (basically pure ethanol) can dissolve the ink, so I'd say alcoholic drinks would probably do the same, but whether the results are still drinkable is not disclosed (I personally wouldn't risk a glass of Johnny Walker for the sake of science).
