I think Jeph anticipated this discussion in the forums, and this comic points out all the flaws in such a discussion. Namely: MARTEN'S COOL WITH IT. THERE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE ANYTHING MORE IN IT THAN THAT.

Y'know comic or not i have been in Marten's position, with everyone asking if "He's ok" He might just snap, I know it really got to me after a while, if people ask me if i'm okay and i say i am, I'm not lying, or covering it up, it means I'm okay with it.
So, Maybe Marten will eventually snap out of his passiveness to prove he is okay with it, if people keep thinking he isn't okay with it that is.

I can't be mad at Gabby, though, that was an awesome snarkchange at the end. Also she's damn fine, to use the colloquial term. I think she works the fro pretty well, even.
