Is it cold in here?:
I am very glad Jeph has a sense of humor about it. Humor has a partial protective effect against emotional death spirals.

Akima:

--- Quote from: Mothykins on 20 Sep 2012, 11:58 ---I've found that satire, like sarcasm, doesn't translate well to the internet. Many people just don't pick up on it.
--- End quote ---
It's not the internet. It's been a problem since at least the time of Jonathan Swift's A Modest Proposal. The internet just increases the audience of stupid people, and distributes their stupidity more widely.

And Claire? "Stupid" is not a good word to apply to someone's parent to their face. You should have worked this out by now. Marten is so enjoying this. I think there is a touch of "Welcome to my world!".

Tova:
I think the problem with this John Campbell post, for me at least, is that it makes no sense whatsoever unless you have been immersed in all the discussion and context that led up to it (as obviously he has, probably Jeph, and probably his fan base as well; but perhaps not the tumblr people who are bitching about it).

I mean, I can see that it is satire, but I am totally unfamiliar with whatever it is that is satirising. Hence - bafflement.

And yes, Marten is enjoying this. To me, that grin is saying "sorry - you're on your own, I'm enjoying this too much to help!"

Sorflakne:
Man, Clinton is going to flip when he learns they recenty went to space and hung out with Hanners's dad.

Asterus:
Marten's probably thinking "In the words of Roy Greenhilt, 'It's like I'm watching my life, but from the outside'"
