Carl-E:
There's something to be said for simplicity!
DSL:
I used to work in newspaper layout with a guy who complained we were behind a few versions on our layout and photo programs; he did love the bells and whistles they had to play with at his previous paper (that laid him off to save money). Meanwhile, the guy who worked next to him (not me) was creating works of newspaper art with our ten-year-old programs. I've always saved my greatest admiration for the people who do the most with the fewest shiny objects.
StevenC:
Skill in using what you have is a nice thing. But if you purposely use a program that has you jump through hoops to get stuff done that a better program could do in seconds it just looks like you're trying to show off, not get the task done.
Sidhekin:
In der Beschränkung zeigt sich der Meister.
Though, if a program could do it in seconds, it's not exactly a masterpiece, no matter how you do it.
DSL:
No program could do what the second guy was doing, trust me.
